June 1, 2021 is Every Child’s Day. For us, every child, big and small, is special and unique.
The photo shows three best friends going through life together. They are no longer the children in the photo but growing teenagers. Everyone is different, with different ways of dealing with difficulties or successes.
Together they have been coming to the Foundation House every day for many years. We see them changing, growing up, building self-esteem, feeling safe. The Foundation House is a HOUSE FULL OF CHILDREN. We are happy that every day we can accompany all the children, big and small, and watch them gain confidence over time, develop their passions, have their first successes and failures, and build a sense of trust towards adults and the world. We are happy that for so many years we have been giving children the opportunity to safely learn about themselves. For us, CHILDREN’S DAY is every day.
A reminder for all young and old.
The words of Janusz Korczak:
The child has the right to BE himself
A child has the right to MAKE MISTAKES
The child has the right to OWN THEIR OWN opinion
The child has the right to HAPPINESS
We believe that given these basic rights, children can safely explore themselves and the world around them, learn about life and learn to trust.
